Bug List

Emailed support twice and never heard anything back. Not a good look for a paid product.

• Live TV rewind buffer isn't being respected/works (halfway through a 30 minute broadcast only can rewind 2 minutes). Disabled commercial detection. No change.

• Broadcast exception resumes playback from default channel, not current.

• Restoring a trashed item requires app restart (Android TV).

• PIP gets stuck on the screen sometimes when app is closed. Currently using system management. (Android TV).

Also, as a feature I'd like to see a way to auto-label/collectionize Passes. Maybe even an inactive playback pause so my NAS harddrives aren't wearing out when content is playing with the screen off (Nvidia Shield isn't set to sleep or use CEC power off because it just snowballs a bunch of issues).

  1. What client hardware are you using?
  2. Did you update the client. The client does not auto-update like the server. So make sure you are using latest version
  3. What hardware is server on
  4. Update server to latest Beta
  5. Can you recreate issue and then copy most recent section of server logs
  6. Is your client and server connected by ethernet or wifi
  7. run the speed test in client.
  8. If either side is connected via WiFi, STOP!!!!! Get that SOB on ethernet
  1. Nvidia SHIELD (2019) on Android 11 (SHEILD SW 9.2.0/33.2.0.302)
  2. Client updates through Google Play. Current version 4.8.0-beta-v602122217
  3. Synology RS815+ (Linux kernel 3.10.108) (4 cores / Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU C2538 @ 2.40GHz)
  4. Been doing so since early January
  5. Enhanced logging is enabled to include all HTTP requests too. Nothing but channel changes, recording, indexing, and the HTTP requests.
  6. NAS is on 1gbE and client is on 5GHz AC1733-80MHz WiFi
  7. Current client WiFi speed test is 382/312 Mbps to a 1gbE network with 1Gbps fiber internet.
  8. These aren't networking-related issues. Any bandwidth-intensive tasks don't experience issues. These are more minor software bugs/annoyances that I've tested in various permutations as a professional software engineer with plenty of experience in VOD streaming and UX/UI design and development.

The buffer is on the client and depends on available memory.
You can move the buffer to the server by enabling Home Streaming Original Quality Delivery = Stream

Protip: Use Stream while at home to place the buffer on the server if your streaming device’s storage is preventing you from pausing for a long enough time.

Thanks! One issue solved. Seems I glossed over that option.

These Nvidia SHIELD sticks are pretty puny with disk and memory. I should toss it and get another SHIELD Pro. AIDA64 reports around 600MB free of 2GB with only Channels DVR running in the foreground. Only ESET, AdGuard, and Twilight running in the background.

As far as these 2 feature requests (not bugs). You can add on to others that have requested these, or create your own feature requests.

Can't help with the other issues as I don't use Android clients and have no idea what broadcast exception means.

Just when a signal error occurs and the tuner drops/closes the channel. I noticed if I use a default channel it will jump directly back to that and not the channel that was being watched. I changed it back to no default channel and just to go to the guide.

Fix this problem first. The HDHR dropping the channel is not normal. Ive been using HDHR for abour 5 years and can count on 1 hand the number of times this has happened to me.

Well I ran into one problem now. When watching recordings using stream instead of direct and skipping through playback, Channels lags and ends up crashing out to the home screen. I have to switch back to direct just for recorded content. Then switch to stream for live television.

I'm planning on moving the omnidirectional antenna to the second floor attic from the garage attic. I was also looking at a Televes device, like the Avant X, to do dynamic filtering instead of a bunch of inline filters. I live near an AT&T microwave tower and it might be a sporadic source of interference, although it's more common during severe Florida thunderstorms.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I'm on a refurbished warranty-replacement device since Silicondust told me my last Flex-4k had a malfunctioning tuner and was having all sorts of random issues.

You should create a new topic for that issue. I don't have that problem on iOS.

Dont complicate things, go with a good quality antenna without filtering etc (i would use an inline lte filter though). Keep it simple...
