BUG: playback stops while watching scheduled recording

I’ve found what appears to be a reproducible bug and also an associated slightly odd behaviour. I have the 10pm evening news set to record as a series pass, and set to retain only the most recent episode. I often find myself wanting to tune into the news at about 10 minutes past 10 and then have missed the headlines, so this allows me to watch from the beginning (while it is still recording).

SLIGHTLY ODD BEHAVIOUR

When I go to watch the news from the guide, I get presented with the options to watch from the beginning or from now, which is as expected and works well. I tend to watch from the beginning. The odd behaviour is that if I instead go through the recordings tab and pick the news from there, I find myself watching yesterday’s news. I usually work it out after a few minutes! So the new recording doesn’t replace the old one until the new recording has finished, whereas I was expecting it would replace it as soon as the new recording starts so that if there is a new recording underway, going to the only recording showing in the recordings tab for the series gives you the option to watch live / from beginning as happens when you tune in from the guide.

BUG

When I tune in and watch from the beginning while it’s still recording (from the guide view as described above), all works well until the recording comes to an end at which point it abruptly stops playback and dumps me back into the guide view (by this point I am still watching maybe 10 mins or so from the end of the program). I suspect though not sure that this might only happen like this if the series pass is set to retain only the most recent recording.

you can change the upnext order from the recordings tab in the web-ui

This sounds like a known bug where a recording can get pruned while you’re watching it. Should be an easy fix.

This issue has been fixed in the latest version of the DVR.

Hi. I had this problem again the other night. Exactly the same thing with the evening news and the series pass still set up in the same way. Not sure if the bug crept back into the code somehow or something else changed?

I’m having a similar issue. Playback stops at the point where I start playback of an actively recording show. The full 30 minute recording is in the hard drive, yet the channels app on my Android tv shows 19 minutes. Which is precisely the point when I started playback.
