Bug: Recordings failing with "Failed: open .mpg: illegal byte sequence"

For a while now, I've been having recordings fail occasionally with an error which seems to be related to non-English characters: "Failed: open .mpg: illegal byte sequence". (I've been trying to figure out a pattern of characters that triggers it, but it's appeared kind of unpredictable to me...)

Any chance you could just implement some kind of check where if it throws that error, it could replace the problematic characters with underscores or something? Or truncating? Or even just renaming to a generic filename? I'll take anything! :joy: Thank you.

Sounds like you're using XMLTV guide data that is not UTF-8 formatted. Hard to know without more details.

Well, at least that points me in the right direction! I thought it was UTF-8, but I'll double check on that. Thanks!
