I came across this as a Media Center user that would always fast forward to the end of my recordings out of habit. If I pause and swipe to the end of the recording, it stops playing and jumps back to the program’s info screen. However when I go to watch a different recording, the status of playback on the timeline bar just shows the spinning wheel. The recording plays but it appears that the application doesn’t realize it is doing so. I suspect this because the Apple TV screen saver keeps coming on when in this spinning wheel state. If I push Play/Pause a couple of times, the play arrow returns and it starts playing as expected and the Apple TV screen saver no longer comes on.

Watching a DVR recording on Apple TV. Pause and swipe right all the way to the end of the recording. It stops playing and takes me back to the show’s information screen and shows as watched. I go back to the recordings page and choose a different show to watch. I navigate down to the next show’s info page and click watch. This is expected so far. Now what happens is it starts playing but on the timeline there is a spinning wheel next to the current location in the timeline. My Apple TV screensaver is set to come on after 1 minute of inactivity. And 1 minute after starting the second show this screen saver comes on. I can wake it up tap the remote to wake it and it starts playing immediately and can watch for another minute and it comes back on. In order to resume expected playback behavior, I need to use the Play/Pause button to pause it and then hit it again to resume playback. Now the spinning wheel doesn’t show up and the screen saver no longer triggers. Playback also works fine if I leave the show that’s having the issue and go to a different one and watch. After playing a different recording I can come back and watch the one that was having the issue to problem. It also works fine if i hit menu and the watch button again on the show that has the issue.
This issue should be fixed in the next version of the app. Thanks for reporting it!
