Updated to latest beta. Tried 3 times off the LAN and failed 3 times. It ended up tuning the ATSC1 channel instead.

@troyhough Please make 60s recordings from your ATSC3 stations and email to [email protected]

have you tried not transcoding?

I do not Transcode.

Are you watching off the LAN? Are you 100% sure it's not falling back to the ATSC1 equivalent? How long does it take to tune in the ATSC3 channels on average when not on LAN?

Just recorded 60 sec of my 4 diff ATSC3 channels. Zipped and emailed you the link to download from Google Drive.

Ran a test on the LAN using the HDHR and Channels DVR apps on my onn 4K Streaming box to compare tuning times. Tried 10 times using each app.

On average the HDHR app tunes in the ATSC3 stations in about 4 seconds.

Here are the times it took using the Channels DVR app (in seconds)

23s
13s
21s - Failed defaulted to the ATSC1 channel
22s
14s
13s
20s
12s
21s

There seems to be a big issue here with Channels DVR being able to tune in the channels where as the HDHR app tunes them consistently quickly. If this gets figured out, it may also fix the problem with being able to tune them in when watching remotely (not on the LAN).

FWIW there is no audio delay when I view. When the picture comes up, the audio also plays.

Submit diagnostics from the app after slow tune. Are you using Direct or Stream mode?

Direct. I will send some diagnostics on a few tunes now! Thanks

Edit: Ok I just tuned the 4 ATSC3 channels 2 times each and submitted diagnostics after each time. On a side note, Ch 115.1 tunes in very quickly (3-4 seconds). It's the only channel I never watch unfortunately. Hopefully you see why the other 3 take forever to tune while that one is quick!

Yes - gigabit cat 6 to a Synology 218+ with 6 gigs of ram. It takes about 6 seconds to acquire a signal. It records fine, Sorry the picture is not the best - taken while watching the recording. The recording playback was immediate.

My setup is similar. It does this 10 out of 10 times, same speed, across all your ATSC3 channels?

it takes 16 seconds to acquire the signal from my local CBS station, WWL. If I hit record from the guide it records without hesitation(because I am already tuned to the station). All my wife's shows are queued for the rest of the night on 1.0. I will pick something that is on in the middle of the night and let you know tomorrow.

16 seconds to tune WWL in Channels DVR. do you have the HDHR app on any of your devices on the LAN? Try tuning it with the HDHR app 4 or 5 times, how long does it take to tune? Now try 4 or 5 times with the Channels DVR app to compare.

The stations which are slow advertise two audio tracks but only one has data. The app waits to receive second audio until finally giving up. SD confirmed this is a known issue with some broadcasts. We will look into workarounds to speed this up.

Awesome thanks for your great work!

Using the HDHR program on my computer, I get an "unable to play channel, no video data" on all the 3.0 feeds. The unencrypted ones play fine through the channels web interface on my computer. Interesting.......

I say you definitely have a problem you should post in Silicondust forum. Or you do not have the HEVC extension Installed on your computer,

HEVC Extension ...
Play High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) videos in any video app on your Windows 10 device. These extensions are designed to take advantage of hardware capabilities on some newer devices— including those with an Intel 7th Generation Core processor and newer GPU to support 4K and Ultra HD content. For devices that don’t have hardware support for HEVC videos, software support is provided, but the playback experience might vary based on the video resolution and PC performance. These extensions also let you encode HEVC content on devices that don’t have a hardware-based video encoder.
