Can not find server

Hello I today went to get on channels on my laptop and got a message cannot find server have not had any power outages or server did not go down and now cannot connect to server do not have a clue how to get into the server need help

The IP address of your server probably changed. The first thing to do is connect to your server and check it's IP. You can also check it on you router. It's best to use a static, manually configured, or reservation for your server's IP.

If this is not it, can you ping your server's IP from you laptop?

Just ran into this problem after updating both of my Macs to macOS 27.2.

Mac1 is a general purpose Mac mini m4 which has a copy of the Channels app.
Mad2 is a Channels DVR Service on Mac mini m1.

I use the Mac1 copy of Channels to test out the configuration after software upgrades.

IP addresses have NOT changed and Mac2 is pingable from Mac1, but Channels app on Mac1 refuses to locate and connect to Channels DVR Server on Mac2.

Both Apple TV and iPhone 15 Pro continue to connect to Channels DVR Server on Mac2 with no issues.

Not really looking for help at this point - just documenting that this particular problem just popped up out of nowhere today after noting the recent occurrence elsewhere.

The problem proved to be that the macOS 27.2 upgrade reset a security parameter for Local Network access. Once this parameter allowing Channels app to access the local network to look for Channels Server, the reported problem vanished.

Have you fixed it yet?

The IP address changing on your home network suggested by others is likely. But if you're doing this out of your home network it may be because Channels dropped Tailscale integration and you need to now setup Tailscale on your server.
