I've been a cable subscriber for decades, but the cost is not really worth it to me anymore. I've seen that Xfinity has a streaming subscription that doesn't include the sports channels that cable and its accompanying Xfinity TVE provides,. However, is any way to get their cable TVE lineup via streaming alone without having to have a full-on cable subscription and maybe save a LITTLE moolah in the process?
Probably not, but what is the name of that Xfinity streaming subscription you're thinking of?
If it's Xfinity StreamSaver or Xfinity NOW StreamSaver, then highly doubt it.
Honestly, you might as well just get Philo and be done with it
Well a few years ago when I had whatever the heck AT&T was calling its cable offering at the time I went to just the streaming only package and those networks worked in ChannelsDVR. I think it is because the whatever AT&T called itself app was simply an almost decent interface to display the TVE links for those networks. Can't say that is how Xfinity does its streaming service, but I would say if the Xfinity streaming service also lets you stream to a web browser than you may get the associated nonDRM TVE channels. This may unfortunately be a try it and see what happens type of situation. But I also pretty much concur with @Jean0987654321 sentiment.
Thanks for the suggestion - I'll look into it.
Regarding other streaming solutions, the big differentiator in cost appears to be the variety of live sports, which has been the sole reason I've kept cable despite its exorbitant cost.
Nothing beats XFINITY with Cable card and TVE ... That is what I have Prime tuners with Cable Card and TVE also use ADBTUNER to record Premium Channels such as Showtime and HBO using the XFINITY Steam APP.. The Premium Streaming services are becoming as expensive as Cable and are constantly dropping Channels.
That's been my take so far. It can be deceptive because so much programming is available quite inexpensively and even free, but trying to fill the big gap of not having a complete spectrum of live sports.
I suspect that streaming services are going to become increasingly re-consolidated into looking more and more like a typical all-in-one-place cable solution with very similar pricing even with the lower cost infrastructure.
I wonder if FuboTV dropped their price when they dropped discover Channels ? or did they re-acquire the Discovery Channels. ?
I doesn't appear Fubo has an agreement with Discovery as of now. Not having TBS or TruTV makes it a tough one for me when it comes to getting all the NCAA Tournament games each year. Perhaps things will change by the time I hope to have those networks once again.
MAX will show the tournament games so you could just get that for a month (about 8-10 bucks for the cheapest package)
Xfinity NOW StreamSaver works in CDVR and provides A&E, AMC, Hallmark, and Discovery (not those formerly Turner) owned stations
