Cannot Find Server

Greetings,
All of a sudden Channles DVR cannot be found. nothing has changed on my end? I have re-booted the PC and Channels DVR, any suggestions?

What's the server running on? Is the ipaddress reserved on your router!
Client?

my server is running on my NUC windows 11, i see my tuners on my router but not the server. Is it the same as the NUC?

Try your ipaddress:8089 and see if it pops up

ip of the Nuc or tuners?

Ip of nuc

ok, yes I tried that and still cannot find server

Are you installed natively or thru docker?

natively

Try my.channelsdvr.net in a browser

You're not the only one having problems accessing your server that is running on Windows. In the past 2 months or so, there have been at least 3 people (including myself) on these forums who have complained about exactly the same problem.

In my case, I got tired of this problem on Windows and I ended up installing Unraid on my NUC. Now I have Channels DVR server running in a Docker container on my Unraid system and it's been flawless.

Besides this access issue, now I don't have to worry about automatic Windows updates either. Peace of mind at last.

does your NUC have wifi? my minipc is very picky with the driver. drivers from windows update cause the ethernet to not load on every other reboot. I assigned the next ip to it's wifi so I can easily rdp in fix if the driver gets updated without my permission. :confounded:

In Task Manager does it show channels-dvr running

Can you access the settings page on the windows machine itself using 127.0.0.1:8089

there was a windows update a few days ago

i get this
You don't have out of home streaming enabled.

Visit http://dvr-desktop-h63p9s3.local:8089 while at home to enable the Remote Access option.

Disable the windows firewall and see if that makes any difference

ok, let me try this, but it isn't the windows 11 NUC that's the trouble, its the Channels DVR app on my ATV4k thats having the problem.
I use the app to watch live TV everyday and to view my recordings. Just yesterday this started to happen. When I open the app, i get the "cannot find server". If I use the regular Channelss app, I can watch live TV with no problems.
I uninstalled the app yesterday and then re-installed it and I still get "cannot find server".

You need to be more specific. What app is working and where is it running? What app is not running what where is it running.

From what you have described so far, the issue appears to be that the server is not accepting connections from your clients (streaming devices). I agree, check if disabling the firewall allows them to connect.

the regular channels (none DVR) is running with no problem, its the Channels DVR app that cannot find the server. I will disable the firewall on the NUC that has the server installed and report back in a few.
But, yes what you are saying make sense
