Am I doing something wrong?

I have a hdhomerun connect hooked up to a powerline adapter that connects directly to my router (Apple AirPort Extreme). Channels scans and finds my channels (though none of the HD ones interestingly) but playback is jittery and unwatchable. The same aerial connection works perfectly through the tv tuner for Xbox one.

What kind of powerline hardware? The bandwidth requirements for OTA mpeg2 are quite high.

I tried it plugged directly into the router downstairs too however the aerial down there doesn’t appear to be great as the scan only picked up 45 channels down there. Are the powerline adapters capable enough?

Could you try hooking something else to the powerline adapter, like a laptop or something, and then doing a speed test?

I have some powerline adapters in my house. Some “1200mbit” ones and some “200mbit” ones. I put those in quotes because they don’t go nearly that fast. But the 200mbit ones get about 27mbit peak and are enough to stream. Sometimes quality dips and it doesn’t stream well though.

So do a speed test and see how fast you’re really getting from your adapters. Powerline adapters are EXTREMELY variable in terms of speed. So many things effect their speed. Distance between adapters, quality of your power lines in the wall, if you’re plugged directly into the wall or not.
