The box to enable commercial detection is greyed out in the dvr server settings running on a qnap nas. Has anyone else had this issue?
What QNAP model? What does the CPU section at the top of the page say?
It’s a TS-431
CPU
2 cores / Unknown
load averages: 3.20 3.19 3.12
Looks like the CPU is:
Freescale™ ARM®v7 Cortex®-A9 dual-core 1.2GHz processor
Commercial detection doesn’t work well on ARM processors. It should let you enable it to try it out but is having issues detecting your CPU.
Can you ssh in and run “cat /proc/cpuinfo” and post the results.
[~] # cat /proc/cpuinfo

Is there something I can do to enable it myself? Or do I need to wait for an update to the app?
Please let me know if there’s any other information I can provide you.
Thanks.
Does the log show a message like “could not look up CPU info” shortly after “Starting Channels DVR”?
I disabled and re-enabled the DVR. Here’s what the log says:

The message is only printed when the server first starts up. Try turning it off and on again from the QNAP app central.
Ahh. Sorry about that. Here it is:

Thanks. Can you run one more command over ssh and post output:
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/cpuinfo_max_freq
Also what version of QTS is running?
[~] # cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/cpuinfo_max_freq
1200000000
Firmware version is 4.2.2 Build 20160823
This is fixed in v2017.02.22.0443. Thanks for reporting.
Is this working for you now? How long does your QNAP take to detect commercials?
It is working now! I’m not sure exactly how long it takes to detect them, but they are being detected before I get the chance to watch anything. Thanks a lot for you’re help on this.
Hi there,
I am getting the same behaviour. I’ve just installed it on my QNAP TS-221:
FW 4.3.3.0570
Processor name : Feroceon 88F6282 rev 1 (v5l) @ 2 GHz
BogoMIPS : 1980.82
Features : swp half thumb fastmult edsp
CPU implementer : 0x56
CPU architecture: 5TE
CPU variant : 0x2
CPU part : 0x131
CPU revision : 1
Hardware : Feroceon-KW ARM
The option to detect commercials is not clickable. Is this an issue with my QNAP not being powerful enough?
My software version is 2018.07.01.1750
Thanks
