Can't update SDHDHR_Prime firmware

Was prompted by Channels Apple TV4 app to download and install the latest firmware, currently 20161119. Installation consistently fails for SDHDHR-Prime.

Currently rebooted all devices and allowed Channels to complete a rescan. It was seeing firmware 201609beta3 or something like that but the SDHDHR_Prime has 20161117 loaded at the moment. Now Channels doesn’t show the firmware its seeing but can view the non-DRM channels from the CableCard.

Is this normal behavior?

The firmware option only shows when the firmware is out of date.

When the firmware was out of date Channels gave the option to update it, but attempting to do it from Channels consistently failed. So I downloaded the latest firmware from SiliconDust website to my MBP and ran the installer from there. After a restart Channels is working normally.

Should I be able to perform future updates directly within Channels or is doing it from the computer the preferred method?

Another thing that happened was Channels immediately dropped access to the SDHDHR_Prime stating the previous firmware version was null and could not be found, was unable to view any TV channels until after I performed the update manually from my MBP.

Hmm sounds like some kind of bug while Channels was trying to update the firmware. Haven’t heard others hit this issue so I’m not sure what happened. We use the exact same upgrade code as the Mac installer. Now that you’re up to date everything should work and the next upgrade will probably work too.
