Been labeling and reserving IP Addresses in my routers software when applicable but the one thing that is missing is the RPi IP address. Bonjour is advertising the IP address and all clients are connected to the CDVR and functioning properly BUT in the Router's list of connected devices the Pi is nowhere to be found. I have gone through every single connected device and the Pi is nowhere to be found with any IP Address. The Pi is connected directly into the back of the router, it's the only thing connected back there besides a switch. I would like to reserve an IP address for the Pi.
Just set it as what the Bonjour address is anyway, as that is the Pis IP address. It does not have to be listed for you to set a DHCP reservation manually.
It kinda odd that it does not show up, or maybe it is, you are just over looking it.
What Router model is it?
If it is an Asus, and you are referring to the "network map" page, that is known to often now show all devices and should not be relied upon.
Not over looking it that's the main reason I went through ALL connected devices and re-labeled them. It is not there. I can reserve the IP but I need the MAC Address which I don't have and have no idea where to find it and does not seem to be readily available when I access the server through the web browser. Arris Surfboard Cable modem / router SBG8300
mmm. That would be a nice thing for them to add to the Web gui for the Pi image, the MAC address. they already have the ip address and interface listed.
U could just SSH into the pi and use the command to get the connection information. Not sure what commands the pi image uses. Assuming u are using that and not some other Linux districts on it. Search the forms here on how ssh works on the pi image.
just use
arp -n
from another computer after pinging it. it should work on windows too. the reason your router doesn't show dvr as connected might be because of lack of network activity. try going to support/troubleshooting to trigger some external network traffic
Found the MAC address with a IP scanning tool.
Activity never made it appear.
you might need a new router
