Change to search

I upgraded to
2021.03.06.0114
and saw the search function has changed. I used to go to that page to see the new shows, movies list. This doesnt appear anymore. Any way to see the same list or please bring back the function? It was very useful finding new shows/seasons, movies playing that day

Thanks

Correct. Instead of a separate landing page for search, it is now just a search box in the navigation header. However, while the landing page was removed, search now includes existing recordings already in your Library, which is a new feature.

In the web UI, try navigating to Live TV > On Later. This is basically the same as what was on the search landing page.

Also, the new/upcoming shows do still appear in (some of) the client apps. The Search page on Apple clients still display those items, and I believe they will eventually make their way to the Android clients.

I appreciate live tv>on later shows the info in a different format. But it is not as convenient for me as the previous display. and the difference is Also when looking on the web in the previous search it showed on the web page if a show was scheduled or a movie scheduled/recorded.
I just am asking since the functionality was there before, code existing, maybe it could be accessed as it was through another menu select?

As stated, the functionality was previously duplicated: both under Search and On Later. The redundancy has been eliminated, so it is only present in a single location. Also, the On Later page shows icons beside the program name whether it is queued for recording (orange clock) or already recorded (green play symbol).

The advantage to the removal of the Search landing page means that the search box is now omnipresent across the web UI, requiring one less click to perform a search.

While I understand this may change your workflow, what you were used to wasn't actually removed. It was present in two places, and now it is only present in one.

As the Channels platform evolves, things you’re used to will change. It’s our goal, and our responsibility, to do our best to make things work well. We will make things better while not ruining past functionality.

Search is just one example of this. Previously you couldn’t even search your content and recordings. To us, this was totally broken and irresponsible to our fans. And it was its own page instead of an always accessible search bar. We had to fix that. And we think we did it without sacrifice.

When redesigns happen, the old ways of how they worked aren’t going to be preserved as we move forward. Change isn’t the same as breaking things.
