Change where server backs up to?

I want to have the database file(s) backup up to the cloud, is it possible to change where Channels DVR backs up to? or other options?

thanks.

No. The backups are saved in the DVR recording directory folder Database

Copy them to the cloud.

While going to the cloud seems to be pushing the request, having the backups go to a different drive or directory would provide excellent way to protect the backups in the event of a drive failure. I copy mine to a different volume on my NAS than the channels root for this reason. If the option to place them in a different directory existed, then that directory could be marked for cloud sync with some setups.

That's what I've been doing with my other apps, like with Dropbox they have a central folder where I point those apps to back up to. So those apps don't know they're doing cloud backups but in essence they are.

I tried to do the same thing for channels by pointing Dropbox to it, but it doesn't seem to be able to see my local drives only my C: drive.

You have the main Database in the main Data Directory and the backup of that with the recordings ... so you want a third copy in the Cloud ? The database with the recordings makes it easier to move your recordings to a new server... using recovery.

From my understanding there's only one database you can restore from in the UI and that's the one that lives with the recordings so I'm confused by what you mean by a third backup?

Can I backup the /data folder that lives on my C: in Windows and that works the same as a database backup?

While Channels DVR Server provides a way to routinely provide you with backups that allow you to simply restore with, it is not a back up service.

There are many tools out there just for this, that will take paths or directories and back them up to wherever you want, and this is the strategy you should employ.
