I have went away for a couple of days and when I returned all of my channel collections have disappeared. Only thing that shows up is All, HD, SD, and Favorites. Plus the guide Data is missing from all the channels Was there an update that wiped it? All my channels show up in All but I had everything organized. Do I have to set everything up again or is there a way I can get them back? Help please
Have you checked your Channels DVR Server to see if the Channel Collections are still there and applied?
It's also worth noting that Channels DVR Server for Nvidia Shield was discontinued a year ago and is no longer technically supported on the Nvidia Shield.
I have checked the server and everything seems okay
Other than my collections are gone.
I moved to the shield as it wasn't being used and it was much more stable than the old computer I was using as it had numerous issues. Once I moved to the shield it has been smooth sailing for some time now.
When I attempted to create a collection because they were gone. It will not create on. And this 8s the error I get on the log

Update: the Nvidia shield pro 2017 only has 12 GB of internal memory. Although I have a 5 TB drive attached the applications installed are not on the external drive. The channels DVR Server takes up close to 9GB of space on the internal memory. I am assuming this large number is due to guide Data but I am unsure. I was able to delete a few other apps on the device and free up some space. My collections returned and guide Data showed back up. So everything is working as expected now but I kind of feel as though it is a ticking time bomb waiting to do the same thing again.
Go with your feelings. I don't believe the Shield is the right choice for a Channels DVR server at this point. I think it still works okay as a client device at the TV end, though.
Wondered where I saw this... it still shows up in the beta Shield client as installable. Whether it really installs, I'll never know, but it could cause confusion.
I love the ease of the setup in the Nvidia shield and it works well as being always on. I had issues working with an old computer as a server as it was continuing. Wanting to do updates to software and continuing to shut down after being idle. I am not extremely tech savvy to solve all of the problems I was having. So the Nvidia shield was a great solution as it wasn't being used and worked great for so long. So now the question lies. I need a new server don't have a large budget. I would like a stand alone device that only runs the channels server. And how would I set it up as a start and forget?
This will work great as a shield alternative for $109 after $30 coupon. Beelink n95
I would recommend installing Ubuntu desktop on it instead of the included windows. Many people think that you have to be a tech wizard to use Linux. In the past that may have been true but today it’s not much different then windows. Either Ubuntu or windows, people on this board will help you get it up and running. If you decide to try Ubuntu make sure to run the windows setup all the way through first and then install Ubuntu. That way if you ever want to go back to windows for any reason the license key will already be registered. The Beelink will also need a setting change in the bios to auto boot after a power loss from a storm.
