I have the channels app on Apple TV with no DVR. When I scan channels from my cable provider I only get random numbers and no show names or guide. I have Vyve cable formally Northland Cable.
Are you using a CableCARD, or is your cable feed unencrypted/ClearQAM? For the former, the channel names would come from the CableCARD; for the latter, the cable provider would need to properly encode the channel names with their streams.
In either case, this is not something that Channels can fix, as it has to rely upon the data from your provider.
(You should check with the SiliconDust forums and their Guide Issues sub forum. Without a Channels DVR server, the app doesn't have a way to override guide data, and therefore the app only knows about guide mappings from the tuner itself.)
