Channels and TVE

Does channels have to depend on TVE?
Why can channels not work without TVE?
I have read that Custom Channels can be created. Do the custom channels need TVE?

It seems to me that the TVE authorization should be replaced with a direct connection to the network.
I have read on Channels DVR that if a network show can be watched Live then Channels will be able to access that show or any show that can be viewed on my browser as long as I can view the show live on my browser.

It is really getting frustrating when I keep getting errors trying to watch shows I have recorded for a long time in the past. If this could be fixed Channels DVR would be perfect! Surely there has to be a way to accomplish this. At least I hope so.

No.

It can.

You can use an antenna for over the air TV with an HDHomeRun tuner.

You can also add custom IPTV channels.

No.

If you look in the Playground > Custom Channels forum, you will find instructions to install Pluto TV, Frndly TV, Samsung TV Plus, and more.

Only live channels, not video on demand in Channels DVR.

Unfortunately, it's not that simple.

The networks don't provide this option to third parties except to big TV providers that signed expensive contracts with them.

If it could be done, this option would be available in Channels DVR for sure!

What errors do you get?

I'm assuming they were recorded on TVE channels?
