Channels can't find HDHOMERUN on ATV but is working fine on other ATV

I have Channels set up on Two ATV’s. The downstairs ATV is working perfectly. The upstairs ATV can’t find the HDHomerun Extend at all. I entered the IP address and it can’t find it as well. I was looking in the HDHomerun configuration and noticed that Tuner 0=551.000 mhz and Tuner 1 channel=None.

The HDHomerun and the Downstairs ATV are both on Ethernet and the Upstairs ATV is WIFI. Unsure, if that makes a difference or not. BTW, I have had Channels working on upstairs ATV.

At this point, I am unsure if this a Channels or HDHomerun issue. I have deleted and reinstalled the Channels App on the Upstairs ATV and it did not help.

Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Patrick

Check to make sure that the wifi network you are connecting to is the one that you are expecting… (you may be using a neighbors unsecured wifi without realizing it).

Some routers have a “guest” network / mode or option that disables the ability for wifi connected devices to connect to the internal network… (ie: they can get to the internet but not reach an internal server or the tuners)

If your router is dual band, then use a different network name for the 5ghz vs the 2.4ghz networks. Some devices/routers have trouble connecting/flip flopping when using the same SSID for the two bands.

Just to add to what TeddyR suggested, does anything else that’s on the same wifi see it? If you have another computer/phone with a browser on the same wifi network see if you can get a response from it at (http://yourHomerunIP or even http://yourHomeRunIP/lineup.json). That’d help narrow it down a little.

Seeing as how you’ve had it working, has your network config changed at all?

Thank you for taking your time and trying to help me resolve my issue! I have it running now. Why? I swapped locations, LOL…the upstairs ATV went downstairs and vice versa. As it turned out both were on the wireless network. I plugged an ethernet cable in and it lit up with all the channels.

Tomorrow, I will swap it again to see what happens…Thanks Again!
