Channels DVR Admin Page Access

New user, liking everything so far.

One thing I noticed is that admin page with all settings is wide open to LAN. Did some research and general attitude/response seems to be "you should trust who is on your LAN" and/or "there are ways you can block access with firewall etc".

  1. I'd assume the typical person setting up Channels may not fully understand network architecture/VLANs/rules/ACL/general security/segmentation nor might they possess a router/network capable of this.
  2. Yes, I agree you should trust users on your LAN, BUT there is an option to enable Kiosk mode removing access to settings - because you don't trust users to not tinker with all the settings...BUT a tinkerer can/will just browse up the x.x.x.x:8089 and have access to all settings and more... Seems like that defeats the purpose of kiosk mode, no?

My question is, why is there not a simple checkbox to enable a password on the index page to access the admin settings screen? Same idea as password restricting a page on Wordpress or any other CMS. Would this be relatively easy to implement?
