I wasn’t quick enough to answer but do as tmm1 said
Anyone heard anything about SD adding 5.1 sound for the premium channels?
I’ve read pretty much everything related to Premium TV on the Silicondust forums, and they haven’t given specifics regarding forthcoming quality improvements.
I predict that eventually Premium TV stream quality will be configurable via the HDHR web admin and via URL parameter much like transcode profile is for the HDHR Extend currently. Channels already has a menu for selecting transcode profile for the Extend, so something similar for stream quality would be perfect. Ideally, options would go as high as 1080@60fps with 5.1 audio using the h265 codec. Fingers crossed.
A new DVR pre-release is now available. We made some big changes to how the guide data is stored for premium channels, which will let us streamline the demo experience. If you’re not subscribed to premium TV, premium listings will no longer show up in search results. We’ve also hidden the web UI record button for demo channels, and made sure that season passes ignore demo channels as well.
I’m on 2018.08.23.0444 which I think is an earlier version than you just mentioned. It seems like it takes a few hours from the point that you say it’s available until it shows as available in the DVR when clicking “shift+check for update”. Is this the expected behavior?
Also, since updates are coming quickly could specify the version number when announcing one is available? That it would be easier confirm that we’re on the latest code.
Thanks as always for such a great product!
The latest build is v2018.08.23.1635
The SHIFT+update should work instantly after I say a new build is available.
Should we be doing the guide update after each pre-release?
Not necessarily, but after this one you should because the guide database format changed.
Hmmmm… I recall in the past it was instant but not over the last couple of days for sure. In this most recent case I had downloaded 2018.08.23.0444 a few hours prior and it was waiting for the DVR to idle in order to upgrade. Immediately after the upgrade and restart I did SHIFT+update several times and received the response that I was up to date. Now, 30 minutes later it recognizes the newer 2018.08.23.1635.
Not sure why and to be honest not really a big deal either. Just curious.
Thanks for posting the version numbers. That will be a help.
Can you check the Log and see if there were some errors or something when you tried it earlier
The logs don’t show any errors. During this most recent sequence the log does indicate that guide data is being fetched for about 8-9 minutes. But, that’s it.
is the guide data sourcing at all related to SD? i asked channels to record a show overnight on HGTV and it completely missed - started recording in the middle of an infomercial and 30mins in a show started, but it was the wrong show.
is this a channels thing or an SD thing? there might be some east/west schedule/timezone issues?
Guide data is managed by us for the DVR.
If you tune into HGTV right now, does the guide match what’s on?
i just checked - what’s on currently (2PM) is showing in the guide @ 5PM, so there must be some kind of east coast/west coast issue with HGTV.
some other channels seem correct at this moment, but it’s hard to tell - many of these channels show back to back to back episodes of the same show. HGTV too, but there was a transition between blocks at 2PM.
HGTV on HDHRP offers both EST and PST stations. You should be receiving the PST station and getting the PST guide data. One of those is not happening.
If you check the official HDHR app does the guide data match what’s airing?
i guess i would have to download that, i’ve never used it.
i had this app called “hdhomerun_view” on my laptop. i guess that’s what you are referring to? when i open that app i see flip or flop playing on hgtv and the description seems to match but i can’t be 100% sure. at least it says ‘flip or flop’. the channels DVR says “music city fix” right now (2:53PM pacific)
sez “pst”. but not all channels seem to be affected by this problem so doesn’t seem to be a global problem?
