Channels DVR Beta for HDHomeRun Premium TV

looks like it works! the only issue i can see is that with multiple HDHR devices, the EST/PST control shows up in each individual channel options pane, but the state of one tracks the other. which is the right thing to do but it implies that they can be individually controlled.

thanks for adding that - i got no response to my support ticket at SD… maybe they are contractually bound not to let people change their TZ? being in the wrong timezone is not that big of a deal to me since we never watch live TV. although if i choose a different VPN endpoint this is going to get messed up again.

Some channels are only available in PST. See https://www.silicondust.com/premium-tv/#timezones

Hi @tmm1,

Channels DVR + HDHomeRun Premium is freaking awesome and exactly what I've been waiting for. I just ditched Plex. Question with the timezones though. I setup a ticket for a show on SYFY and another on DISCOVERY. Both use PACIFIC feeds. When I look at the DVR schedule it shows the times for PACIFIC (I assume) and the guide seems to show that it's going to tape on the EASTERN time correctly. For example KILLJOYS is showing 10:00PM on Friday night, but on the guide the actual program shows up at 1:00AM on Saturday morning. Same for Battlebots which shows 11:00P on the guide. Can I be rest assured this is going to tape?

1:00AM

11:00PM

@csddavies Hmm that’s strange. It seems like the guide is correct, since those are PST stations are you’re on EST. So the airings would be 3 hours later than expected.

I’m not sure why the Schedule is showing the wrong time though… If you look at the Channels app does it also show the same time?

I had this problem at one time. I basically uninstalled and reinstalled the DVR software and it fixed it. It is almost like the DB used for the DVR was corrupt. I was playing with manually mapping the channels last weekend when this happened.

I am sure there is probably an easier way than a reinstall.

The app only lets me go 1 day ahead, so I can’t look at the guide for Friday (can I?) The schedule shows the same as above. Let me see about reinstalling the DVR as @tsheley suggested.

There is no need to reinstall unless you were manually adjusting channel mappings before.

In the app, check the Schedule under DVR to see what time is listed for those recordings.

BattleBots 8:00P
Killjoys 10:00P

I’m sorry if this has already been answered, but is there a reason the premium channels are not pulling into my Favorites? They are marked as favorites in HDHR setup and also on Channels DVR setup.

Answer I saw before is that you have to reinstall the app. It only reads the favorites once.

Here's another view of the guide with the item selected. If it's RIGHT I'm good. If the dvr schedule is RIGHT I'm screwed. Maybe the DVR schedule isn't taking into account the time shift like the guide does?

If you click Queued in the bottom right what does it say?

Can you pause and resume your pass to see if it makes any difference?

Did you set the favorites in the app, too? There’s like 5 spots for favorites, I wish everything would just pull from the Channels DVR webui favorites.

Totally agree with you on using webui favorites, however, I’ll take it one step further…I’d like to see Channels offer a TOTALLY separate, dedicated Channels’s channel listing from the SD listing on my.hdhomerun.com “Channel Lineup”…which is arbitrarily refreshed every 2-3 days.

My requirements necessitate using BOTH solutions…and I’d appreciate a separation between the two.

Having Channels “channel lineup” be subject to this arbitrary HDHR rescan totally “screws” with my requirements (and is unnecessary IMO).

I highly doubt that Channels can fix that. It can only play something that the HDHomeRun says exists.

@timstephens24:

I’m not asking for capabilities beyond HDHR tuner. The change I’d like to see is “all” of the channels on a scan be available for SDDVR and then Channels DVR on a separate database.

Then be able to “favorite” or “disable” those channels on SDDVR and then separately for Channels DVR. “Easy peasy” process…just takes a separate db.

Probably take less than 1 day (or <1/2 day for our amazing devs). Only problem, I’m probably the only user requesting this capability. :sunglasses:

Just as a separate note: my above request may be moot…SD is still not responding to my posts re: DRM recording status. My request is predicated on utilizing HDHR Prime for SD’s DRM recording ONLY…and Channels DVR for all other recording.

As stated in a previous thread/post I’m almost ready to give up on SD DRM recording (3 years since kickstarter DRM goal) and a bit over 2 years since I dumped WMC … and then was unable to return to WMC due to AVC conversion on Comcast (CC) :grinning:.

Aaahhh! How fast time flies when dealing with Prime recording. NOT! Reminds me of Comcast in 2010…finally capabilities released in our area early 2017…but no On Demand (TV STB) on Starz allowed at CC, in total contrast to all other national/local providers.

Always beating my head against the proverbial wall. :scream:

Edit: Clarification on wording to include importance of Channels DVR for all non DRM recordings.

Totally agree.
Now that the clients have been “unified” it would be nice to have favorites separate from the SD device for the Channels DVR and a separate favorites for each Channels client as not all Channels users have the DVR and individual Channels client users in a household (possibly on multiple clients) don’t want the same favorites. Maybe import the SD device favorites channels to start with, then allow separate customizations for the Channels DVR device and each Channels client.

After thinking about this I realize it would take a lot of thought on how to sync the HDHR hardware device channel listings with all clients (which includes the Channels DVR and Channels clients as client devices) since a newer HD hardware device may scan periodically for changed channels and older devices don’t store the channel listing in the HD hardware device. It’s not like Channels and an HDHR hardware device are all in a black box, there could be many clients using an HDHR device.

I also think we need a Feature Request section for the DVR (right now it’s only for the clients).

A post was split to a new topic: Favorites sync across apps

Can anyone see the premium channels in remote DVR? On my network I see locals and premium and when on remote only locals show up.
