Channels DVR on Nvidia Jetson Nano PC

I have a question for the devs. Do you think the Channels DVR would run well on a Nvidia Jetson Nano PC? https://developer.nvidia.com/embedded/jetson-nano-2gb-developer-kit

It is an Arm based SBC. Better than a Raspberry Pi 4? It runs Ubuntu for the OS. It looks like it could be pretty good. I'm hoping it could do better for trans-coding than the RPi4. This case on Amazon looks like it could help to keep it cool. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SXJHQD1/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_TQ6F7GVHKQ9AS0XK821Y?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I love Channels DVR on my little Pi. Thanks so much for the great work you are doing.

Did you have any luck with the Jetson and Channels? I am considering the same.

I never got a chance to check it out. I still may do that in the future. I was hoping somebody might have tried it already.

After some back and forth with @raj over support, I'm happy to report that the next DVR build will include support for hardware transcoding on the Jetson Nano.

I tried it on a 2GB model and it works well, and @raj reported it works on his 4GB model as well.

To try this out yourself:

  1. Setup your Jetson Nano with the official SD card image (2GB or 4GB)
  2. Install /usr/local/lib/libnvmpi.so using the instructions on https://github.com/jocover/jetson-ffmpeg (under "build and install library")
  3. Install Channels DVR using the linux install instructions
  4. Upgrade to pre-release v2021.09.01.2009 or newer
  5. Hardware transcoding option will appear automatically

I am absolutely floored by how fast you made this happen.

You folks rock! It may be a little bit before I get a chance to try it. I just recently got an M1 Mac mini and an external NVME to go with it. My wallet is kind of tapped out at the moment.
