Channels DVR on QNAP

I just purchased a QNAP TVS-453BE to run a new security system. I would like for it to run the Channels DVR.

Is that possible? Do I run the DVR app on my Mac with the location of files on the QNAP or what?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Chuck

You should be able to download and install the QNAP package from our website. Or you can install on your Mac and record to the QNAP share. It's up to you.

Your QNAP model is quite powerful so I would suggest installing directly on there for simplicity.

I have it installed on the QNAP, but nothing is recording. It shows everything I picked to record as queued even when I pick something that is broadcasting right now.

Check the Log tab to see what it says for the time when the recordings were supposed to happen

I figured it out. The directory where it was going to store the recordings was not valid.. changed it and it worked...

Still working with it though to get things set up correctly.

Trying to decide if this is better than Plex.

I have the CHannels DVR Software running on the QNAP, but it starts recording and it will only record 1-3 mins of the show and it quits recording...

What could be causing that? There is plenty of room of the QNAP.

Check the Log tab of the DVR to see what's going on. Sounds like it's losing connection to the HDHR

I am unable to run on qnap. Maybe it’s the conflict with port. Dont know why is it operate on port conflicting with virtualization.

I cannot even connect to web interface to change it

If you have virtualization station running on your QNAP you’ll need to change its port to something other than 8089. There is a description of this on the forum (search for QNAP 8089).

The virtualization station conflict is explained in the QNAP install notes: https://getchannels.com/dvr-server/#qnap
