Channels DVR playing the wrong channel when same EPG is used

I have two Custom Channels sources. Both are mapped to the same EPG url. They contain similar/same channels so I'm mapping them to the same EPG channel. Now, when I play the channel on the second custom channel source, I see in the status overview, that the first custom channel source is being used (and I verified this because I had a non working channel in my second source which somehow worked, because it picked up the channel of the first source).

As soon as I change the second source to another EPG all together and map that, it works fine. Is it not possible to use the same EPG for multiple sources?

If I’m reading your question correctly, Channels is seeing these two channels as “the same” since they share the same channel-ID from the same EPG. So when you try to tune in, Channels DVR is choosing the one with the higher priority in your source list.

And if that first source isn’t available, is having an outage or another issue, Channels DVR will then tune into the same channel from the second source instead.

You can test this by temporarily deactivating the first source and seeing how trying to tune in via the client will land you on the same channel from the second source.

You can also prioritize the second source above the first source, to change which channel from which source Channels DVR tries first.

In other words, as best as I can tell, “it’s a feature, not a bug.”

If I’m not reading your question properly then hopefully this thread bump will attract a better answer from someone who knows better than me

Ah, that explains a lot! Thanks for the answer, then it's indeed rather a feature than a "bug".
