Channels DVR has been running very well for years, but recently, the recording option just disappeared from the client apps (e.g. ATV). My DVR is running on a Synology. I can watch live TV on the DVR app from the sources, but no record option (long press or swipe-down). I have already tried deleting the client apps and reinstalling.
This means it’s lost connection to your server and is working directly with your HDHomeRun. You’ll probably notice you’re missing your TVE channels too.
You’ll need to figure out why it can’t connect. It could be that the IP address changed in your server or the app isn’t running.
Try submitting diagnostics from the client app and we can see why it’s not finding the server.
Thanks - I just checked and the server IP address showing on the client app is correct. For what it is worth, I am able to manually record from the web interface on my laptop (just a basic record, no schedules), but even that option is no longer available from the client apps. Just submitted diagnostics.
Do you have a full 16 days of guide data on the dvr server?
Yes.
For context, the one change I made after which recording stopped working was upgrade the DSM version. I had restored Synology from backup when I did this. However, after struggling with it some more today, since I couldn't get the record functionality back, I decided to entirely remove the installation and reinstall from scratch - it seemed to have fixed the issue on some of the client apps. Some client apps are still a bit fussy - perhaps they need to be reinstalled as well. I am now trying to add back my previous recordings as TV/Movie media to the library.
Is it possible your subscription has lapsed?
