Channels DVR Server on Raspberry PI using NVIDIA Client

Channels DVR Friends,

I am considering moving my Channels DVR Server over to Raspberry PI. Recommended move?

Currently I have both the Server and Client on an NVIDIA Shield Pro with attached 1Tb SanDisk Extreme Pro SSD. Working well for years with no major issues. However, considering the Shield is no longer supported, perhaps I should be proactive and move on especially with the next generation Raspberry PI 5 being quite an improved performer.

Questions:
1- Recommended move? - Why mess if it is working well? Because I like new and improved tech.
2- Are there any specific improvements? - Yes, some in admin. but I don't use admin except when the Shield blows up and I need to re-establish IP address connection. (My biggest issue from time to time.)
3- If I move over and use the same SanDisk SSD what are best practices?
4- Is there or might there be any lag when jumping from TV channels with Server and Client on two different devices?

Just looking for input from more experienced users.
Best regards and Thanks,
Tim

Yes however I’d skip the pi and grab a Beelink like this. Throw Linux Ubuntu on it and it will be way better than a pi.

What is it about the PI that makes it better than a Mini PC like the one that @Rice recommended ?

I am replying to both Rice and Edwin. Thanks, good suggestions.
Frankly I was just thinking about the least costly AND perhaps new to my experience.
All that said, thanks for your input that is what I'm looking for. Unfortunately, that is only part of the equation.

Thanks, I'll consider it,
Tim

If you already have a PI then go for it see how it performs ... Only suggesting if you do not own a PI.
