I have a problems were my computer stops recording after 20 minutes of the computer goes idle. I have tried windowews 11 with powertoys keeping the computer awake indefently and I have tried ubuntu serverv 24.04.1 and it dosent make a difference the computer stops recording after 20 minutes of the computer going idle.
Do you see your machine actually sleep and are positive that is what is happening?
also did you wipe your OS and try Ubuntu Server? If you did and the same problem happened did you check the power setting in the BIOS? Ive set up Ubuntu server for Channels multiple times and never seen it let the machine sleep in any situation. Might be something else at play. Also have you checked the Channels logs to see what is going on when the problem happens?
I did a fresh install and I have the same problem. I also just set channels dvr up on my MInecraft ubuntu server which has been running flawessly for 6 months and its doing the same exact thing. So it cant be my computer. I submitted my logs hours ago but they didnt get back to me. I am going to let it run for 20 minutes and post the logs here.

If you submit the logs you have to open a ticket as well. But once you reproduce the issue posting the logs here will hopefully shed some light...

Can you use the HDHomeRun software to view those Channels ? You might have a HDHomeRun unit failing.
Yes I can view the channels with the HD homerun software. And the unit its self is only 8 days old. And as long as I am on my computer it will work all day long. But 20 minutes after the computer goes idle it stops recording and it did the same thing on my minecraft server. I stopped watching tv and went to the store and it stopped recording.

Your Channels DVR server needs to be on 24x7x365.
Set the power management so it doesn't sleep/suspend.
Okay to have it blank the monitor, but don't sleep the cpu/gpu/bus/pci/usb/drives

Symbol Quality is an indication of how many uncorrectable TS frames (packets coming out of the demodulator with the TEI-Transport Error Indicated bit set in the packet header) have been lost in the last second (logarithmic scale). The Symbol Quality needs to be 100%.
Tuner signal or firmware issue probably
Why does it record all day long while I am watching TV? It only stops recoording if I stop watching TV and the computer goes idle? Yesterday I recorded for 10hrs without a problem. But as soon as I quit watching TV it recording stopped about 20 minutes later.
And like I say if I start watching TV the channels come in clear and I don't have any recording problems.
Indoor antenna?
Maybe your position relative to an indoor antenna affects the reception?
It's an indoor antenna and I sit in the same seat when it stops recording after the computer goes idle. And like i say the signal will not drop on any channels as long as I am watching TV.
Thats the part that confuses me. If the position of the antenna was bad or if it was a bad antenna it wouldn't come in at all if I was watching.
If you look at the signal stats that Channels DVR logged from your HDHR tuner, it shows your Signal Quality is too low, most likely causing the issue.

I have a silicon dust lte filter on my antenna. I just took that off and I am going to wait 20 minutes to see if it drops again. And if it does ill replace the antenna with my spare antenna. And report back.
You may also be dealing with 2 seperate problems.
On the antenna unless the lte filter is bad its doubtful it will change anything. Replacing your antenna may not make a difference either. It is probably an issue with signal/antenna placement espacially if it is an indoor antenna.
Can you describe exactly what happens when you notice the problem?
If I am watching TV (DVR Recordings) all of my channels come in with no problems. If I stop wattching TV the DVR stops recording after 20 minutes or so. But if I let it stop and start watching TV on my firestick It will instantly start recorrdinng again and have no more problems until I stop watching TV again/ And thats the part I dont understand. Wouldn't it not work if I was watching TV and the placement was bad? And why does it stop working if I am not watching tv?
Ahhh ok so the computer being idle likely has nothing to do with it. Sounds like when you are recording your stream is so bad that dies after a while and then maybe when you retune the channel it kick starts the recording again. Either way your signal issue needs to be sorted so get that corrected and then do some more testing.
