Channels for HDHomeRun App On More Than Apple TV

I have already purchased a licensed version of the Channels for HDHomeRun app on my Apple TV. I just got a second Apple TV that is connected to a second TV in the same household to use with the same HDHomeRun server. I went to install the Channels for HDHomeRun app on the second Apple TV, and it is telling me that I have to pay ANOTHER $39.99 to install it.

That doesn't seem right to me when I have already paid to license this very app. Am I doing something wrong, or does Channels really expect users to pay multiple licensing fees for use in the same household?

Make sure you're logged in with the same apple ID?

Go to App Store under Purchased and you should see it and be able to download it.

Thanks for your help. I eventually managed to find the app there, but it did not show under "Recently Purchased" (which apparently only applies to apps purchased on that specific device), and had to go under "All Apps," where I was able to install it for no additional charge.

Since I was signed in with the same Apple ID the entire time, it seems to me that when I initially searched for the app by name, it would have been a better user experience if it recognized that I had already purchased the app instead of asking me to purchase it again.

I agree but Apple has chosen not to build it that way.

An even better experience might be to enable the app syncing feature in Settings->Apps. Or, you could enable the "One Home Screen" option under Settings->Profiles and Accounts->your account name. Either of these will keep the installed apps synced between your two AppleTV's, and the 2nd option will keep the app icon layouts in sync too.
