Channels for HDHomeRun: Duplicate channel handling

Hi there, I have two HDHomeRun devices (different models) with nearly identical channel lineups, but one has noticeably better reception than the other.

I’m specifically referring to the Channels for HDHomeRun app (not the DVR server) and was wondering how it manages this setup.

  1. Does the app display channels from both devices separately (e.g., each channel shown twice, one for each device), or does it consolidate them into a single icon?

  2. If it does consolidate, can the app automatically select the device with the best signal, or is there a way to set a priority for which device should be used?

  3. If I have 2 TVs with the app, will they know to use the device that is 'free' if the same channel is being watched on both TVs?

Thanks in advance!

Thank you @Edwin_Perez for your prompt response,

I don't see that 'screen' you've shared, is that the Android app or the iOS app? How do you get to that setting?

When I test it on my devices some channels are de-duped and others aren't.

  1. Is the de-duplication done by GuideNumber, GuideName, ProgramNumber, Frequency, or some other transport or stream id (looking at /lineup.json)?

Hi @Edwin_Perez, thank you for your message.

I am not a Channels DVR server user. This question is specifically in regards to users (like me) who are exclusively using the Channels for HDHomeRun app with a HDHomeRun device (but no server).

Please refer to my post's initial message:

Thank you anyway

Yeah should have had some coffee first.
