I got a NAS because I wanted security cameras around the home and to have backups. I also checked that I could run Plex and Channels on it as well. It was just a bonus for me that it would run those. I had a Ryzen 5 mini pc that was running Plex and Channels. But the Ryzen running 24/7 cost a lot more than running a intel celeron 10 watt processor. Also the celeron comes with Quick Sync which doesn't tax the processor like it would on a Ryzen machine. So it was a win win for me. Granted almost everything direct streams for me.
