It seems that Channels only updates the artwork for Apple TV (currently playing placard) when watching live TV on the initial channel tune. As I keep watching and the program content changes, it doesn’t reflect the new artwork and media description unless I retune the channel in which case the artwork and media description reflects what is currently airing. This can get confusing when opening up the iOS/iPadOS Apple TV remote app, as often times the artwork and program description is outdated…
I'm not sure there is a solution to this; the exact same behavior is exhibited by the DirecTV app.
Thanks for the confirmation. Not the end of the world, however it would be nice if it updated in accordance with what is actually playing…
Just tested and my guide data changes over as the program ends and a new one starts.
Are you meaning in the timeline when you press up on the remote?
My issue isn’t with the guide data but rather the currently playing artwork and program info. provided to Apple TV. When I initially tune a channel, the correct artwork and program info is displayed via now playing in iOS and iPadOS. However, when a new time slot occurs and the currently playing tv program changes, it isn’t updated unless I re-tune the same channel…
Ahh okay yep I get you.
I feel like mentioned, apps like plex will do this too from memory. Probably more so an apple bug?
I’m not sure it’s a bug as it seems to be related to how and when this information is provided to tvOS by the client.
