When I pause a recording or live TV, AppleTV screen saver does not go back to video, I can heard the audio but the screen keeps displaying the AppleTV screen saver. Noticed this with 5, I have to pass menu to clear screen saver then continue video. I'm running 5.5.11
Its fixed in 5.6.0
Also noticed the highlighting in the guide for a show goes away when it has started recording. It used to stay.
Thank you.
Iām seeing this same behavior in the TVOS App version 5.6.1. Per the 1st post in this thread.
Try changing to the experimental audio driver
Thanks for the tip, will try that. Although likely still needs to be fixed with the Default audio driver.
I think the experimental driver is the fix if I recall correctly. Really no reason not to use it.
It's fixed in v5.6.2
Unfortunately, this is not fixed in the TVOS Channels App 5.6.2.
Same behavior when a show is paused.
With Default Audio driver - screen saver on AppleTV turns on. Pressing the play/pause button once on the AppleTv remote resumes the show playback with the screen saver still on.
It works as expected with the Experimental Audio driver. Pressing the play/pause button once turns off the screen saver and shows the show as paused. A second press of the play/pause button resumes playback of the show.
Are you using wireless speakers?
Original Apple HomePods in a stereo pair. Yes, wireless.
Then the behavior you're seeing is expected.
ok, got it. I'll continue with the workaround to use the Experimental Audio driver.
thanks @slampman
