Channels on NAS and Windows PC?

I have Channels DVR installed on my MyCloudEX2Ultra NAS. Can I also install the Windows server version. I checked out the Android app which says it will work on Windows 11, but the Amazon App Store charges $25.00 for the app. I am already paying for a subscription, I have no desire to shell out another $25.00 for an app to have access to Channels from my PC.

You are confusing two different apps.

"Channels: Whole Home DVR" is the free client that is be used with your paid subscription. "Channels for HDHomeRun" costs $25 and is a front-end client with none of the DVR capabilities that is just used as a way to access HDHRs. You do not need to ever buy it.

Now, the reason you are not seeing the free one in the Amazon App Store on Windows 11 is because of this:

Amazon pulled it again and is requiring some changes

In the meantime, you can sideload it after downloading the APK, if you are comfortable doing something like that. You could also sideload the Google Play Store and then get it from there. Either would work.

You can install multiple instances, but you can only access one of them remotely. Also, you are going to have other issues. There are many topics on these, so please search for forums. For instance:

DVR on another port

If you run multiple dvrs are home, turn off bonjour discovery, and just connect the clients manually via ip and port. Just put the port at the end of the ip. 192.168.1.50:8088

2 servers

I have been running 2 servers each running of a pi4b. Don’t remote stream so not a concern for me to have multiple account. Both are in same account. U only need separate accounts if u want more than one server to be remote accessible. Far as in know you can have as many local server instances as you want. If you use a vpn hosted on your home network though you can remote acces all your local servers but the client apps only work with one at a time and you have to manually switch between them…

Two channels servers on home subnet

Channels is not designed to fully support multiple servers, so this is turf ruction you’re running in to. You should turn off bonjour discovery on both your servers. Channels automatically discovers its server using this protocol. With one server it works great. With two, you’re going to get unexpected results. Turn it off and connect to your servers manually via ip address.
