Two channels servers on home subnet

Channels may need a tweak for correctly handing more than one Channels server on the lan. I happen to be using the Fire client and one client using the stable release and one using the beta release. Invariably after a day or so both clients seem to have gravitated to the lowest IP address and I have to re-key one of the clients to use the other server.

Is there a way to not have the client reset its server IP periodically where they both gravitate to one IP address?

Thanks.

  1. Channels is not designed to fully support multiple servers, so this is turf ruction you’re running in to.
  2. You should turn off bonjour discovery on both your servers. Channels automatically discovers its server using this protocol. With one server it works great. With two, you’re going to get unexpected results. Turn it off and connect to your servers manually via ip address.

Can the server discovery via bonjour be disabled on the client?

No.
