Good morning everyone. I’m looking for a little guidance on how to set up access to my Channels remotely. Specifically I’m looking to put the app on something like a Roku stick or Apple TV and use it while I’m away from my home network. I believe there are some settings on the backend that need to be made and how easy is it to access the server in my home remotely on the app itself? I am not very technical, so any specific guidance is appreciated!
Every time I leave home and expect to watch TV remotely, I do two things. (1) I turn off WiFi (to make sure I'm not connected to my local network) on my phone then launch the Channels app. Then I verify that the Channels app works properly via a remote connection to the DVR server. (2) Launch a browser on the same phone to verify that I can access my DVR web UI remotely http://my.channelsdvr.net/.
If these steps work, I know I can access TV when I leave home.
On the web server go to settings. Scroll down and you will find " Remote DVR". The settings are there including a more info button which explains Router configuration changes that need to be changed. Once you make the changes, test as described by Cyoungers.
