We’re exploring stopping Comcast’s cable tv and signing up w Sling TV, which allows coordinated access to Locast. However, Sling's cloud DVR provides cannot be used for Locast broadcasts. Our goal is to be able to watch and record local and national network shows, including being able to set recording for recurring shows in a series.
Is this a reasonable expectation of Channels?
Is the setup relatively easy?
Does it work reliably?
Anything we should be considering?
Thank you.
I have no experience with Sling TV, but all of what you want was super easy with Fubo and Locast, and I assume if Sling supports TVE, it would be just as easy.
There is also real good help in this forum should you run into a snag.
Agreed. You kinda need to know your way around a computer to set everything up, but it’s pretty basic and not highly technical. You just need to be comfortable with having the server running 24x7. If you’re good with that, Channels is the best out there IMHO and probably your only option if you want a DVR that can handle Locast and TVE.
FYI....Sling TV stinks for TVE support. I tried it and ended up cancelling once i found out their TVE support, basically non-existent
As others have mentioned sling’s TVE support is very poor, you won’t get much. However, if the locals are what you’re really concerned about and Locast serves your area you can just go with the Locast donation of $5 per month to get the locals in Channels via Locast directly.
Thanks for info and suggestions. After checking these and other comments, I think that we may be better off just subscribing to the networks’ streaming services whereby we wouldn’t have to record anything.
