I’m not sure if this is actually an HDHR issue or not but I have been having this issue off and on for a few weeks. Initially the server would “lose” the HDHR and not show up in the web interface under connected HDHRs. Live TV would (and still does) work, but scheduled recordings would not record. Silicon Dust recommended installing the beta firmware (20170512beta1) which I have done and that seemed to resolve it till the IP address of the HDHR changed… Now in the last week or two i have noticed missed recording again, but this time the HDHR shows up in the Channels Server but with and old IP address and will not find the updated IP Address, resulting in me having to add it manually every time. As with the previous issue, Live TV still works fine whether I manually update the IP or not. Any ideas?
Hmm, if you click “scan network” in the DVR, does it update the IP?
It’s supposed to scan in the background automatically every couple hours and update the IP…
No, it doesn’t update it, and previously when it didn’t show up at all it wouldn’t find it. In both instances I need to enter the IP manually. I wish SD provided an easy way to set a static IP…
I see, the DVR isn’t able to discover your HDHR in the first place, so that’s why it’s also not able to find the new IP. I’m not sure why that would be the case… must be something related to how your network is setup.
On most routers, you can add a “static dhcp reservation” using the mac address of your HDHR to ensure it always get the same IP address. That’s what I have done, and is basically equivalent to a static IP on the HDHR itself.
Well, that is a handy feature, didn’t know that existed! Thanks for the help, hopefully that takes care of it.
