Chasing down Lost connection error

I've been chasing this error for a long time. Mainly it happens during the morning news shows-I would get the error almost every minute or so and have to re-select play. i think maybe I solved the why but not how. If I stopped the recording (I have passes for several morning shows) the error would go away, so it seems that there's something going wrong with recording/playback while recording. i changed the path to another hard drive I have to see if that changes anything but wont know until tomorrow. Anyone have issues like this?

Another thing that seems related is if I watch a recorded show (but not watch while it's being recorded) I sometimes get choppy playback and it will often playback a part that I just watched.

Just make sure you have turned WiFi OFF on your host and have a dedicated DHCP address, otherwise it may be switching back and forth from the Wifi address to the Ethernet address
.
DHCP reservation (sometimes called a static DHCP lease). It tells your home router to always give the same local IP address to the specific device running your Channels DVR server
.
The Risk of Leaving Both Active:
they have different hardware addresses, your router treats them as two completely separate devices and assigns them two different local IP addresses

If your server has both Wi-Fi and Ethernet active at the same time, it can cause several issues with Channels DVR:

  • Random Disconnections: Your operating system may dynamically switch traffic between Wi-Fi and Ethernet based on what it thinks is a stronger connection.

ahh-thanks. I'll try it out tomorrow

I had a similar problem. It turned out to be a bad network switch.

I found it using Ping Plotter.
