Checklist for moving external drive to different computer

I want to move a 6TB external drive used exlusivle for Channels DVR from one computer to another and retain all recordings, settings, and schedules. Based on what I found it looks like I need to do the steps below. Please let me know it it's correct. I have previously done this moving prefs and config files but this looks easier and safer.

  1. Restart DVR to get Channels backup
  2. Shutdown DVR on old computer
  3. Install Channels DVR software on new computer
  4. Connect external to new machine
  5. Launch Safari go to http://127.0.0.1:8089/restore and follow instructions.

That's correct. For step 1 there is a backup button on the DVR web UI now so restart not needed
