did it improve after the server switch? i’m basically seeing the same thing with an nvidia shield tv pro (the 500gb version).

i’m not sure if it’s possibly the internal HDD on the shield that is causing problems or maybe the router? i have an asus rt-n66r router that appears to be working fine but won’t auto map upnp through channels etc. (had to setup port 8089 manually)

my log dump from 4 out of 5 broken recordings looks like this. only the first recording was in tact. I have both a prime and a connect on the network.

Your logs look fine. No errors reported during the recordings.

Do you see similar problems when watching live tv? Are you sure your antenna signal is strong?

Would be helpful if you could describe what the broken recordings look like.

live TV works perfectly. i have a signal that sits almost perfectly in range for both my prime and connect.

it will typically manifest itself when concurrent recordings are happening or a later recording has started and comskip is still processing the prior file - i’m not sure if it’s because comskip has kicked in and it disrupts the HDD? the shield has plenty of horse power.

the broken recordings are pixelated, broken audio, tearing, jump frames - basically unwatchable.

for example, last night i tuned the Chicago P.D. recording in progress - it was about 20 minutes in an unwatchable. i then tuned it to live tv and was able to watch the remainder of the show with no issues at all.

the shield, and prime are both hard wired to the asus router. the connect runs through a gigabit switch which connects to the router. my apple tv is also hard wired. only iphones, ipads and a macbook are used wireless to interact with channels.

i’m tempted to pickup a new router but i suspect the issue might lie in the HDD on the shield?

are there any routers that a preferred to use with channels?

i did also toggle off the auto port forwarding and set to manual only and restarted the dvr this morning. the resulting log looked like this:

Hmm yea maybe the HDD can’t keep up…

One thing I would recommend is to plug all the devices into the same switch, instead of being split across the router and the switch.

i would love to but i’m location limited with regard to the connect.

if i switch the shield from using its internal storage, to instead use USB 3 external storage connected to the shield, is that a fairly straight forward process?

i went on a trouble shooting rampage and it appears the offender is the ethernet cable between the prime and the router.

has anyone else seen an issue before where the prime seems to have a great appetite for ethernet cables?

I’ve heard isolated reports that some of the cables that ship with the HDHRs are defective.
