Chrome failed to start: /system.slice/channels-dvr.service is not a snap cgroup

Today I noticed Philo not allowing me to watch specific streams, specifically AMC

From the server support log:
2025/11/09 21:24:48.600037 [TVE] action=authz_retry err=adobe.pendingLogout reason=34764
2025/11/09 21:24:48.708540 [TVE] action=auth mvpd=Philo requestor=AMC
2025/11/09 21:24:48.838134 [ERR] Could not start stream for TVE-Philo ch6086 AMC: TVE: chrome failed to start:
/system.slice/channels-dvr.service is not a snap cgroup

Saw the stupid 'snap group' message appear. I've been fighting snap ever since upgrading to Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS.

I thought, I will refresh my Philo password, do a channel scan and everything will be fine.

The opposite actually happened. Now when I go into the Philo source to review the channels - every channel shows this message:
"chrome failed to start: /system.slice/channels-dvr.service is not a snap cgroup"

I'm so tired of fighting Ubuntu and Chrome and these snap groups/cgroups.

is there anyway around this?

Followed the instructions at this post (which I've done in the past)

Then when those steps were completed - from the server page -> troubleshooting -> update chrome.

Then I rescanned the channels from the Philo source and everything seems to be working again.
