Chrome Installation Corrupted after each update - Better Logging

It seems like after every chrome update I get the TVE Chrome Installation Corrupted error:

TV Everywhere

Chrome installation is corrupted. Please re-install Chrome.

The logs have no useful information about what is broken, only that it is broken. It would be great if the error log for this check had information about what error it is running into so some amount of user troubleshooting could be done.

I fixed my issue:
Steps -

  1. closing all instances of chrome
  2. closing channels dvr server
  3. starting channels dvr server
  4. starting chrome
  5. rescan all channels
  6. play a channel

This is with channels dvr installed on Windows 11.

Hi, just restarting Channels again after many months due to computer failure. I got this error message for the first time after just starting the server again. Not sure what to do as I never had Chrome installed, I use Firefox. How do I resolve this? Thanks.

Try installing chrome

Chrome is required to use TVE feature. (far as i understand it)

Is that a windows thing? I know on Linux its required

When i setup my server on Win11, i got error when i tried to use TVE, and error went away when i installed Chrome. I guess Channels can't use built in Edge?

No, sorry I can't read. I thought u said it wasn't required.

Hi, thanks for the replies to my post, I installed Chrome on the server computer and it seems to have done the trick. I guess it was functional before the computer went down last year because TVE was fine. However, new issue: getting an error message in the guide when trying to go to some (not all) channels brought in from Pluto:
"Connection Lost - Streaming to the tuner failed. Press play to try again" (doesn't help) then a bunch of other stuff that ends with "Server unavailable" Any ideas on that one would be great. Or let me know if I should post this in a different thread. Thank you!

What are you using for Pluto? One of the main sources is no longer available and requires use of a different method to get it.

I'm using the Nocords program solution. Not being a techie can't explain except I found it here, copied it and it was working well last year, other than lacking CC. Is there a newer method I can try that won't give an error message?

check your custom channels settings. refresh guide working fine here.
Make sure u do not have any antivirus or firewall that is blocking things.

Hm I do have antivirus, will check if that could be it and/or the settings. Thanks for the suggestions!

Just to follow up, I did a complete re-download of the program guide and no more error messages! Thx again.
