Clarity on Storage Path's please

I want to move a bunch of recordings from the primary drive to a new one that has been added in Storage Path. from @tmm1:

Unless the things are still in trash, or you restore an old backup. In that case you could move the files to the secondary drive and add that path as a secondary location. With that setup no scanning or importing is required. When the dvr doesn't find a recording on the primary drive, it checks the secondary locations and uses it from there if found.

I did what i read and moved the files (individual show folders) from the primary drive to the root of the extra drive (root/tv show 1/ - root/tv show 2/ etc). but that did not work. is this still correct? does it need to be scanned? i didnt scan because i didnt want the entries to be deleted from the database before i moved them back.

do i have to replicate the folder structure from the primary to the secondary (ie. root/tv/tv show)?

can someone please verify?

No scan required for moving to additional storage.

The videos don't play after moving?

You do need to create the same structure on the additional drive. What's the error message in dvr logs?

thanks. it said file not found since it was looking at the old location and not the new, but note, i moved the files over to the root, i did not create the same structure.

so to clarify, i need to create drive:/TV/show directory/ ?

i dont need to move over the database, images, logs, streaming etc?

Yes you need to create TV/show/ and put the file in the same place. That's all you have to move, just the mpg file
