Client remembers DVRs on local network - quick switching

We are using/testing two local DVRs at home so spouses array of shows is separate from mine.

I understand the limits of tuner sharing and TVE streams.

This would allow "quick switching" between known DVRs in the client without manually poking remotes for IP addresses and such.

In the past multiple TiVos where on the network for fairly seamless sharing of recordings, but this is just for the client easily switching DVRs with one click.

Good suggestion. In the meantime, I’m pretty sure you can use the release version of the app alongside the beta (TestFlight) version of the app, they each maintain their own settings, so they’d stay connected to different servers.

Unless things have changed, the release and TestFlight versions share the same settings/internal storage (as I remember from my previous experience).

On Android they maintain separate settings; but it's experience/understanding that on Apple platforms they are shared.

(On Apple you can install and use both versions concurrently. On Android you use both if you sideload the beta; if you use the beta through the Play store you can only have one or the other.)

This is on our radar, and something we want for ourselves to make testing easier.

I'm not sure when it will happen because there are a number of steps to get there, and it has to be figured out separately for each platform.

Are you using Apple TV or Android TV?

Yeah, that does appear to be the case, I just tested it now. I run the Channels beta and haven't had the release version loaded for a year. Just downloaded it though, and upon launch it shared the same settings as the Channels beta client does. So that's that!

I am using mostly Android clients.

Then install the release from the Play store, use the menu option within the release client to install the beta, and switch between the release and beta versions for each DVR you wish to connect to.
