Closed Captions [cc] enabled, but not visible

Hello all,
I’ve got the latest Apple TV, the most recent version on Channels via the AppleTV APP Store, and the HD HomeRUN Prime. All is great with the exception of the closed captions. The settings in the Channels App are set to show [cc], but the don’t appear. I’m looking to see these on US based network channels to start; CBS, NBC, ABC and so on. I’ve rebooted everything and looked high an slow for posts, hints, and clues as to what the settings should be; if I have missed the obvious, please pardon the post, and thank you for your time.

That’s strange… we haven’t heard of any other reports of issues with closed captioning. The local networks like CBS, NBC, ABC should definitely be showing captioning on prime time television.

Let me investigate and see what I can find… In the mean time, perhaps others on the forum can confirm whether or not captions are working for them.

I have a follow-up note to add…
I am able to see subtitles on my iPhone… yet not via the AppleTV.

No problem here with CC. Release 1.5.8 and current HDHomeRun Prime Firmware.

Thank you d21mike. I have one question for you - Is your appleTV connected to your network via Ethernet or WIFI? I suspect that this wouldn’t make a huge difference (802.11ac vs Ethernet in home) , but I am looking at all possible factors.

Ethernet but I do not think it matters.

Update: Tested on Wifi and still works. I have 8 Apple TV’s and 2 are on Wifi.

I tested my ATV too and it’s working without issue.

@nibiki2203 Can you double-check the version of Channels and the version of tvOS that you have installed?

@tmm1 Thank you for asking! I’m running TVOS 10.0 (14T3030) Channels v.1.5.8 and the HDHomeRun Prime firmware is 20160902beta3

Update - All is good now. I killed the HDHomeRun app on my Mac and uninstalled it. And now the [cc] seem to be working. I guess this cosmic justice for getting ahead of myself and not waiting for the ChannelsDVR rollout! Suffice it to say that I will cool my jets and stick to the iOS and TV OS apps!
