CNN International gone on TVE?

Been working fine with my provider for the last 3 years, this morning channels says that the TVE stream is not available.

Wondering if this is an issue for everyone or just my provider because technically speaking I'm only supposed to get CNN.

Looks to me like it's gone completely. Doesn't even show up in my YTTV channel guide at the moment so can't even re add it via PrismCast.

Edit: Per comment here, changed the feed to CNN.com with the provider login via Prismcast and it's working again for me.

It's still listed in my DirecTV Stream TVE lineup but won't play.

I just checked on their website and I was able to watch it live after authenticating with my provider.

Broken link in Channels? DRM? :person_shrugging:

Yep I can play it in Chrome too so worst case have to add it to Prismcast. But strange that CNN still works in TVE.

The URL is cnn.com/watch and it's already in prism just have to enable it.

Seems the most likely, just like HLN, which has a functioning link that the Devs have not updated to.

Don't think so, I'm only detecting regular unavailable errors:

2026/05/15 11:02:53.595092 [ERR] Failed to start stream for ch6032: TVE: Stream Not Available
2026/05/15 11:02:53.634097 [HLS] Couldn't generate master playlist for ch6032-dTVE-Cox-ip172.22.0.1: TVE: Stream Not Available
2026/05/15 11:02:53.634444 [HLS] Stopping transcoder session ch6032-dTVE-Cox-ip172.22.0.1 (out=0s finished=false first_seq=0 last_seq=-1)

As a matter of fact, if I take the session stream directly from CNN, it reports everything is a-okay:

It would tell me if it was DRM, and what type, as well, if that were an issue. Despite this, PrismCast is showing an HVEC capture connection instead of a native:

I'm going to chalk that one up to PrismCast's decision making, not an indication of the stream type.

Also works in the Android TV...

... and Roku apps.

I'm in the middle of working on something for all the HDMI Encoders to make this a seamless integration, so stay tuned on that front!

It does look like a necessary CNN site was blacklisted in PiHole, so I had to whitelist that to get the streaming site working again (it was before, even as of a few days ago when I last checked).

Just a heads up on what the actual link is for PrismCast in case you don't have the correct one automatically in there:

Unless something has changed recently, HLN's previous stream went offline and that is why it no longer works in Channels DVR. The new HLN stream uses a DRM pipeline from Warner Bros. The CNN and CNNI streams are still available with the old, non-DRM pipeline. See this thread: HLN channel error TVE: Stream Not Available

I'm thinking this is a temporary DirecTV glitch with CNN's TVE site. I tried authenticating on desktop and got this error:
508 Loop Detected Error

Redirect Loop Detected

Update: I no longer think this is the case. It seems like only the CNN US feed is still running on the old TVE (non-DRM) pipeline. The CNN International stream has gone the way of the old HLN stream and is now offline.

CNN - News of the World, but only if we can verify who/where you are, you paid money and have this fancy golden encryption key.

Yep, looks like they did it this month.

You can still get it via Prismcast but I don't think I'm going to bother at this point.

CNN International can still be watched using FAST Channels as Samsung has it BTW

The other Turner channels are obviously in jeopardy.

Yes, to sum things up for anyone reading this in the future: either PrismCast (for the CNN US website) or FastChannels (for Samsung TV Plus UK) are the easiest ways to get the stream if you're based in the US. The International stream is also still available in the CNN Apple TV and Android TV apps, if you're more inclined to use an HDMI encoder-based solution.

It might show as available on FAST, but has anyone actually tried to watch it?

The other weird thing is that I had it configured in TVE and now all the guide data shows as 'SIGN OFF'. Used to have valid guide data until just recently.
