Hello! I did try and search for this answer before I created a topic, so I hope I didn't miss it somewhere. I wanted to create a 4K custom channel collection and since I know there are some TVE streams that are 4K sometimes and other times not, is there a guide tag I can use? I tried creating one using "4K" as a tag, and all it appears to have done is grab two channels from Samsung TV Plus that have 4K in their titles.
Try UHD maybe. I’m not sure anything is tagged this way though. If you record something from one of the channels, check the recording’s tags.
Thanks! I'll check the next time I see something that should be in 4K via TVE... the 4K channels from Samsung appear to be 4K, but as you said, not tagged with anything special. I was hoping there might be a tag I was just missing.
I'm seeing UHDTV as a tag for sources that use Gracenote data.
Thank you!! I will add that and see what I get.
If it's a dedicated 4K channel (ex. FiOS Channel 1498) the UHDTV tag will appear in the guide but otherwise, like in the case of TVE, it won't.
I did something similar, and added the UHD, 4k, and 2160p tags. Sometimes the channels say 4k but aren’t, but most of the time this will give you 4k content that’s playing at the time.
Thanks @jaidenc @bjr3! I'll make sure to add those tags. I used to have FiOS, so I'm familiar with their dedicated channels, sadly... I'm in a Spectrum area now, so I have to rely on some TVE options. Wish the gracenotes data would denote for those channels, but oh well - I'll have to take what I can get I suppose.
