Commercial detection degrading over time...?

Hello,

I know it may only be a coincidence but has anyone noticed that since the last update commercial detection has not been as reliable.

Comskip was doing awesome in detection up till about a week two ago. Now it’s mismarking the program material from a variety of sources that used to work flawlessly with commercial skip.

Anyone have any ideas?
Is there an comskip initialization file that can get inadvertently trashed?

I've been seeing a little strangeness too. The markings are a little off and sometimes when I try to skip through the commercials manually, the "cursor" gets stuck and won't go any further... until it finally breaks free and skips 20 minutes ahead before I can release the button. I'm seeing this strange behavior on a Shield TV, two FireTV 4k's and one Tivo Stream 4k.

Interesting. I’ve also observed the sticky curser issue on Apple TV 4K client as well. My server is running on Mac mini.

Commercial skip was nearly flawless up till about a week and a half ago. Surprisingly good detection, with an occasional wrong marker but very close.

Now it’s more random and mismarking more often on all shows, and the issue when manually skipping getting stuck occasionally for me too.

The commercial detection itself hasn't changed. What has probably changed is that the networks you record have changed their broadcasts to make commercial detection more difficult. This is often achieved with running tickers on the screen, or reducing the video to show ads in the margins, or changing how the network logo is displayed, or ...

As far as the issue with getting "stuck" when trying to skip, this often occurs when there are errors in the recording, especially during commercials which are often inserted using a different timestamp, and makes playback difficult. That is not a problem with the commercial detection per se, but rather an issue with the source stream that is most noticeable when trying to skip through the recording.
