I have been having a problem with Commercial Detection not working on Some recordings. I am running the latest BETA. Some recordings are not having commercials detected. For example all 3 FBI shows on CBS did not have commercials detected. There are others like Kudlow on NBC. I am using HDHomeRun for OTA broadcasts. The detection is a great feature but very inaccurate. One problem is the commercial will cut off part of the show too soon. Or, miss commercials entirely. Not complaining, but looking for info.
I record Kudlow from Fox Business. Commercial detection is perfect. I’m surprised he’d be on NBC.

There are no commercial markers at all, or the markers are wrong?
Do you have live detection enabled? There's a bug which is fixed in prerelease related to that checkbox.

Yes I have COMDET turned on and am using the latest release with the box checked There are no commercial markers at all. Last night two shows recorder with no commercial markers and one with commercials detected. All on CBS OTA. Swat had commercials detected. Fire and Blue Bloods did not. Also a movie on Hallmark Channel had no commercials detected. The commercial detection also is randomly not detecting the beginning of the commercial but starts after a minute or so. Great feature when it works. What does the COMDET use to detect the commercial?

It seems that CBS WINK OTA TV here in Fort Myers will not be recognized by the Commercial Detection. Last night two shows were recorded from CBS but had no commercial makers. Movie on Hallmark had commercial while it was recording. CBS seems to be the only channel that does not get recognized by COMDET. Don't know why, but not a big deal. Is there some kind of marker in the stream that triggers COMDET?

It seems the COMDET is sporadic. Some shows will not detect any commercials and some will. This seems to be happening on CBS WINK OTA mostly. Any info from the diagnostics I submitted. I don't know how COMDET works but I assume there must me something in the signal.

As mentioned earlier there is a bug in the live detection option. If you turn that off it should work more reliably.

I guess you mean this on Start live detection when watching in-progress recording I am not watching live but after the program has fully recorded and there are No Markers. I have unchecked the box in Start live detection when watching in-progress recording. I will see if it works.
Thanks for your help. I did not see the earlier post about Live. I guess the correct term is COMSKIP.
