Commercial detection timeline anomaly

Hello folks, seems that I have an anomaly during commercial detection. As shown in the attached photo, the timeline is skewed whenever commercial detection is employed. This photo shows that I should be in a commercial, but its still the actual show. Accordingly, commercial gaps shown don't align with reality. Too long of periods of no commercials (when there are commercials) and then when commercials are reflected, those time periods are too long and encompass actual show airtime. I'm running Channels Beta client and server ver 2022.04.21.1658.

As an aside, if I'm viewing a commercial I can not advance or skip through it without using the skip feature. But the skip feature often means that I miss show airtime due to the above.

Thanks in advance for chiming in if you have any thoughts.

Commercial detection is not perfect. (In fact, I find it to only be about 70-80% accurate.)

The DVR web UI and iOS clients allow you to edit the commercial markers to correct misdetections.

Editing is the best way but you can modify the conskip settings (although not easily). The problem is those edits are global so it would apply to every show. I put a feature request in to be able to have tunable comskip settings per pass but not sure it is on their radar. I like old westerns and comskip always flags the 3 minute infomericals as show. Tried changing it and it messed up primetime shows so i just out it back to defaults and use my ipad to manually override the errors. First world problems...

Commercial detection is good enough for most of what I watch. In a situation like yours, the easiest thing to do is back up and paly the part that is incorrectly skipped. I only see editing if you plan to watch over and over.

To be more clear, the timeline isn’t having a display issue, the commercial indexing for that program just did a bad job.

So while everything is working correctly, I know it’s unfortunate that it is not. Like everyone mentioned, commercial indexing isn’t 100% perfect.

Thanks everyone for the responses. This is it a minor concern, and I'm quite happy with the product.
